CSU|LAW’s Pardon Clemency & Reentry Clinic has received $33,000 from the National Urban League (NUL) to assist in the mission of pro bono representation for those seeking Record Sealing and Expungements in Northeast Ohio. The Clinic created a partnership with NUL earlier this year and has been able to service more than 50 people with NUL’s initial support. With the recent donation, the Clinic will be able to service more than 100 people.
The Clinic and NUL share a common goal to provide legal and other support services to individuals in the greater Cleveland metropolitan area who have prior criminal convictions and are seeking assistance in the form of expungement, record-sealing, employment opportunities, social support services, and other assistance to successfully reenter the community and the workforce.
The Pardon Clemency & Reentry Clinic launched in 2022 through a partnership with the Ohio Governor’s Expedited Pardon Project (OGEPP). In 2023, in its first full year of operation, the clinic granted five pardons to individuals seeking to regain their lives.
Led by director Khalida Sims Jackson and assistant director Kate Pruchnicki, the Clinic gives CSU|LAW students hands-on opportunity to provide life-changing advocacy. With this latest partnership and grant from NUL, students will gain actual experience at in-court hearings.

It’s been a great year. Thank you so much to our amazing students, clients, speakers and community partners! 💚
