This Labor Day, we reflect on more than a long weekend - we honor a movement that reshaped American law. Born out of the labor movement of the late 19th century, Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, following years of advocacy for fair wages, reasonable hours, and safer working conditions.
That fight didn't end with a holiday. It laid the foundation for landmark protections we still rely on today, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, modern workplace safety enforced by OSHA and anti-discrimination laws enforced by the EEOC and the courts. As employment attorneys, we're proud to carry that legacy forward, advocating for employees and guiding employers through an ever-evolving legal landscape.
