Friends, tax season is once again almost upon us. It is time to start thinking about the paperwork needed to prepare and file your taxes. You will need W-2's, mortgage interest paid, medical expenses and medical mileage among a few. For advice on what is needed for your particular situation give us a call.

Due to the shutdown, the filing season is delayed until February 4th. This will also delay refunds for early filers. However, the filing deadline of April 15th will not be delayed.

If you expect a refund, get some of it right away by lowering your withholding allowances for the rest of 2013.

People with traditional IRA's and who are 70 and a half or older must take a withdrawal by year end. Consult IRS Pub 590 to calculate what you must take.
