🐢 Sea Turtle Nesting Season Has Officially Begun!

As our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches welcome sea turtle nesting season, we’re reminded how special this time of year truly is. From now through October, sea turtles will return to our shores to lay their eggs under the moonlight.

If you’re visiting the beach, you can help protect these incredible creatures by:

• Turning off beachfront lights at night
• Filling in holes and knocking down sandcastles
• Keeping beaches clean and trash-free
• Giving nesting turtles and marked nests plenty of space

Checking in with Miss Molly! For those who aren't familiar with Molly's story, she is an adult loggerhead turtle who was rescued and treated by our friends at The Turtle Hospital last summer. She had an enormous 10 lb tumor removed before receiving a clean bill of health and going back to her ocean home in November. Since then, she has traveled up towards Marco Island and Ft. Researchers have recorded the first sea turtle nest of the season in Juno Beach on February 16, the earliest ever documented along this monitored stretch of shoreline. The nest was found near the northern end of the survey area at Coral Cove Park.
