We had a full house for our Estate & Succession Planning event last week and are so grateful for the great turnout and engagement from the community.

Renee Strahan is an attorney at Laird Law Firm who focuses on litigation, including construction, contract, estate, and personal injury matters.

Renee grew up on a farm and originally thought she might become a veterinarian. Over time, she saw a need for more legal help in rural communities and wanted to give back to the kind of community that helped raise her.

One of Renee’s favorite parts of her work is getting to know her clients; not just their cases, but their lives and the milestones that matter to them. She describes her approach as versatile, knowing that every situation is different. Sometimes that means being more direct, and other times it means helping find common ground.

Her advice for anyone facing a lawsuit? Try to get some sleep. Legal issues can be stressful, but Renee’s goal is to help clients feel heard, supported, and prepared for what comes next.

Outside of work, Renee enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Seth, and their dog, Porter. She also loves visiting family back home and finding new local coffee shops and restaurants. Fun fact: she can play the drum set!

Mike Moeller is an attorney at Laird Law Firm with extensive experience in estate planning, probate, municipal law, family law, and business formation.

This summer, Mike will mark 13 years of practicing law. His decision to become an attorney was shaped in part by watching his father, a local doctor, make a meaningful impact on people in our community. Over time, Mike knew he wanted a career where he could help others, and practicing law has allowed him to do just that.

When asked what he enjoys most about his work, Mike said it is the people.

“I enjoy learning about individuals and their stories. The variety of issues we deal with keeps the work rewarding, fresh and engaging.”

Mike’s approach is rooted in relationships. He believes every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, no matter how big or small the issue may seem.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and their three kids, traveling to new places, watching the Lions and Hawkeyes, and keeping up with his family’s many activities.
