My dear and sweet friend founded the Dannon Project when our girls were in 1st or 2nd grade. What she does for our people in Alabama to give those that have served their time and giving them a second chance at life is God send. Alabama had nothing like it prior to her and nothing like it still exist. The love my friends, JehJeh and Kerri Pruitt have for all people is something we should all strive for. If you did not know, The Dannon Project is named after JehJeh’s brother that was murder by someone that was just released from prison and had no where to go and no resources.

Thank you to Pam Hays Callaway for her special thank and message on the Friends of Camp Coleman Facebook group. Since I can not share her post, I screen shot it to put here. Chip and I were not able to attend the 100 year celebration of Camp Coleman because Sarah Belle had her spring play Grease, where she was Sandy. I have seen a lot of the pictures and it was a great celebration. I’m glad that Chip and I were able to keep this camp open not only for my 2 daughters, but all the future generations to come.

In 2003, when I began my legal career as a female criminal defense attorney, I was one of very few female criminal defense attorneys in Birmingham. It has always been very important for me to be a leader for other women and prove that if you dream it then you can achieve it. In 2008, I was asked by Chanda Temple if she could feature me and Sarah Belle (my youngest daughter) in a cutting edge article about working Mothers and Breastfeeding and Pumping at the workplace. I was proud to be featured in an article that highlighted the importance and need to make accommodations in the workplace for all women. This article is from 2008, Sarah Belle was about 8 months old.

Thank you to the Chilton County High School Girl's Basketball Coach DuBose for asking me to come and speak to the Varsity basketball team. He is changing these girls lives forever. I love when Coaches of any sport is trying to build girls up with courage, confidence, and character. I was honored to speak to them yesterday and I look forward to cheering them on in the stands this season.

THE ALABAMA REDEEMER ACT
The Alabama expungement law has been amended to allow for the expungement of felony and misdemeanor convictions under certain conditions. Governor Kay Ivey signed the new law, called The Alabama Redeemer Act into law a few days ago. The new law becomes effective on July 1, 2021. We have posted a new page on our website that gives details of the new law.

William Bradford had the opportunity to present oral argument with the Eleventh Circuit Federal Circuit Court of Appeals this morning. The case concerned a conviction under the Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act in which a boat was stopped and seized by the Coast Guard in the waters off of the shores of the Dominican Republic. Mr. Bradford wants to express his thanks to the Court of Appeals for making sure that the business of the Court is still moving forward despite the current pandemic. The Court and its personnel are ensuring that appellate cases pending before the Court are still moving forward. The oral argument was conducted via Zoom and went without a hitch thanks to the great work of the Court's IT folks and the clerks handling the matter. Earlier in the year, Mr. Bradford was able to present oral argument on two cases via telephone conference. Mr. Bradford says that the experience today with Zoom was definitely preferable. It means a lot to be able to see the members of the Court and opposing counsel while arguing. A good experience all around, and particularly good because his client's cause is moving forward without delay.
