Constitution Day gives us an opportunity to think about the rights, responsibilities, and legal systems that shape this country.
It is also a time to acknowledge that the original Constitution did NOT extend equal protection or political power to everyone. Over time, amendments, legislation, court decisions, and community activism helped expand civil rights and participation.
Understanding the past helps US become more informed participants in the present.
Keep your records organized. Know what YOU are signing. Ask questions when something is unclear. An informed community is a STRONGER community.
