When an insurance company mishandles a claim from its own policyholder, it must be held accountable under Kentucky law. It was a privilege to work on this case with Tad for a very deserving client.

We're proud to share that attorneys Eric Kiser - Attorney and Tad Thomas secured a $1,375,000 settlement on behalf of our client in a bad faith lawsuit against State Farm Insurance.

Our client was injured in a car wreck caused by an underinsured driver. After a jury determined the value of the underinsured motorist claim, our client brought a separate legal claim against State Farm for bad faith — a claim available under Kentucky law when an insurance company fails to fairly and reasonably investigate, evaluate, or handle a valid claim. The case was originally filed in Campbell Circuit Court and later proceeded in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, where the parties reached this settlement.
