Our city is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Chowchilla Police Officer Ray Barrantes, who passed away following a traffic accident late Friday night.

On behalf of the City Council and the entire Chowchilla community, I want to extend our deepest condolences to Officer Barrantes’ family. We are holding them in our hearts and prayers as they face this unimaginable loss.

We also recognize the deep pain felt by our Police Department family. Our officers serve this community with dedication and heart, and today we stand beside them, embracing them with the same care, compassion, and strength that they show us every day.

In honor and memory of Officer Barrantes, I have directed that all flags at City facilities be flown at half-staff until October 12, 2025. I invite our community members, schools, and businesses to join us in this gesture of respect and remembrance for Officer Barrantes and his family.
