May is National Elder Law Month
Since 1963’s Presidential Proclamation, May has been recognized as the month we show support for older Americans. The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys has embraced this proclamation and declared May as National Elder Law Month.
As Elder Law attorneys, we will work with seniors and their families with the following areas:
-Incapacity planning that would include a discussion regarding financial and medical powers of attorney
-Estate planning, including a discussion surrounding the management of assets during incapacity and upon death
-Medi-Cal eligibility, counseling, advocacy, and representation
-Long-term care, including continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and assisted living facilities (ALFs)
-Special Needs planning (e.g., special/supplemental needs trusts)
-Conservatorship
-Asset protection
-Retirement planning, including beneficiary designations, death benefits and spousal benefits
-Estate and Trust Administration
By planning ahead, seniors and people with special needs can obtain the best quality of life, while preserving family assets for as long as possible.
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) is celebrating virtually this year!
