About a third of my clients who are seeking asylum from Mexico come from Guerrero. Just last week an asylum seeker from Chilpancingo came to my office, a town only an hour from Iguala.

They tell me a similar story: the were threatened or harmed by the cartel, and reporting the threats to the police is pointless because the police are in bed with the cartels, the government, federales, and the military. This article shows how after 10 years there have been no arrests after 43 students were killed in Guerrero by the police and the cartels, and how the military and government knew all about it before and while it happened - and did nothing to stop it - in fact they helped the cartels. The US DEA just released 23,000 text messages between the cartels and the Mexican government, proving what asylum seekers from Mexico have been saying all along.

If you can't read the article just email me at [email protected] and I'll forward you a pdf.

Check back next week for a video where Glenda and I will talk about it.

This is my client Alda. She entered the USA on a tourist visa from Brasil almost 25 years ago. she's been thru a lot yet she has never had any problems with the police, always paid her taxes, and has raised good strong children here, and always hoped that one day she could get a green card. Well, after COVID and court scheduling delayed her case for a couple years, she had her final hearing this afternoon, and the Immigration Judge granted her green card after a very short hearing. Thank you Judge, thank you ICE (for not dragging the hearing out), y gracias a Dios!

This is Maria, she is from Mexico and has had her green card for decades. She paid taxes every year since 1998, and never had any problems with the police.

In 2006, she was involved in a minor traffic incident. The whole thing was blown way out of proportion and immigration has been trying to deport her ever since. She has been in deportation proceedings for over 10 years at this point and has cycled thru multiple attorneys who have either retired or gotten sick.

But not me, and not today.

Today the immigration judge closed her case, dropping all charges against her and ending a nightmare that began 17 years ago. She will get to keep her green card and live in the USA worry-free for the rest of her life.

Please join me in congratulating Maria!!!

A client sent me this video of her husband reuniting with his parents in Mexico after many years and after getting his green card. She messaged me and said:

"You made this happen!! Thank you🙏 i don’t know if people that you have helped share these kind of videos with you. But for us it’s important that you see how much it means. You’re not just an immigration lawyer, you are helping families stay together the impact you make in our lives."

Thank you to Maria and Luis Ceja!
