Hello Everyone, I hope you all had a great first week of class!

ESLS is looking for ONE Section Representative from each 1L section and will be holding elections soon. Being a Section Rep. is a great opportunity for anyone who thinks they are interested in being on the ESLS Board in the future. The Section Reps. will attend Board meetings so they are able to share events and news with their section, be responsible for chalk-boarding for their section before events, learn the responsibilities of serving on the Board, and generally be the voice for their section within the Board.

The way elections for Section Reps. work is that anyone interested should send in a word or PDF file with a short paragraph about themselves and why they should be chosen as the Rep. for their section. When you send in these paragraphs please make sure to include your name (seriously, don’t forget your own name) and your section. These paragraphs should be sent to [email protected] and the subject line should read “Section Rep. Application – Section __”).

Once the deadline for receiving paragraphs has passed, we will send them out to all ESLS members and open up voting. Voting will take place through a survey and have a set close date. Once voting has ended we will announce the Section Reps. at the first event where we introduce the Board and go over our plans for the semester. Due to changes in DePaul’s policies regarding meetings we are having to hold our first meeting later than originally planned, but as of now we are shooting for the week after Labor Day. Below are the dates/deadlines for Section Rep. applications.

- Friday, August 25 – Wednesday, August 30 @ 5 P.M: Paragraphs accepted
- Thursday, August 31 – Monday, September 4 @ 5 P.M: Voting open
- Week of September 4 – 8: First event where Section Reps. will be announced (If we are unable to hold an event this week, we will notify those who are elected Section Reps.)

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
