✅Boosting Home Health & Efficiency: Understanding Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs)

More homes are embracing Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) for healthier indoor air. But what exactly is an ERV?

Simply put, an ERV is a high-efficiency ventilation system that brings fresh air into your home while minimizing energy loss. Unlike opening windows, which leads to significant energy waste, ERVs provide controlled ventilation.

Want to know how they work?

Check out my latest video on maintaining an ERV! I'll explain the inner workings, key components, and essential maintenance tips to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Share and subscribe to my channel.

Got to hang out with Chicago Alder Andre Vasquez a couple weeks ago and tour him through an all electric home by Greenline Homes.

I love when elected officials get out and do their homework. Andre came with questions to learn about the benefits of all electric homes firsthand. The City Council starts deliberations on the Clean and Affordable Buildings Ordinance ( ) soon.

There’s a lot of myths out there, and fossil fuel lobbyist have a lot to loose if CABO becomes law. Let’s start with the basics.

1. All electric buildings are safer for occupants than gas buildings. They have zero explosive gas and no possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. Further, the lack of combustion in the home lowers the risk of fire and removes other harmful indoor air pollutants like NOx emissions and methane leaks, which mmsignificantly affect occupants with respiratory conditions like Athsma.

2. All electric buildings are less expensive to build. You don’t have to install gas lines, and the mechanical system cost is on par with gas equipment.

3. All electric buildings are more efficient than gas buildings. A cold climate heat pump operates at 300-380% efficiency, compared to the best gas equipment at 95%

4. There are federal and local utility incentives to build all electric buildings.

5. Heat pumps are just as reliable in a power outage as gas. Gas equipment cannot operate safely without power.

6. The consumer gets a more efficient, comfortable, healthier and affordable home if it’s all electric.

7. All electric homes are an upgrade in lifestyle from gas homes.

Let’s start reaching our goals for the next generation and start building better homes today! We don’t need any more homes with gas lines. Every new home witnnh gas built today is a home that has to be retrofit tomorrow.

Support CABO and send this video to your aldermanic offices.
