Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. For 100 years, the American Heart Association (AHA), along with volunteers, supporters and collaborating organizations, has worked to build longer, healthier lives. This month, Coleman Immigration is proud to support the AHA’s Go Red Woman of Impact Campaign and Gretchen Muller in their quest to raise much-needed funds and improve the health of our communities, and to ensure every woman has an equitable opportunity to live a long and healthy life.

The initial round of the H-1B lottery for this year has concluded. On Monday, USCIS announced that it has received sufficient electronic registrations to reach the H-1B cap for FY2025. Prospective petitioners with selected beneficiaries have been notified that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition. Registrations will now show one of the following statuses: Submitted, Selected, Not Selected, Denied (duplicate registration), Invalidated (failed payment), or Deleted. In past years, a second round of lottery selections has taken place in late July, after the filing deadline for first round petitions has passed. We are keeping our fingers crossed for those who were not selected that there will be a second round this year!

Prospective petitioners seeking to file H-1B cap-subject petitions, including for beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption, must first electronically register and pay the associated $10 H-1B registration fee for each prospective beneficiary.

Seven years ago today, we opened our doors as Richards Coleman Immigration Law Group. A lot has happened at RC Immigration in seven years: it has been an exhilarating and sometimes exhausting journey. But it is still a true pleasure to work with my wonderful clients and an amazing team. Thank you to all who have helped us along the way. It was a thrill to celebrate lucky number 7 by appearing on VSAM1040 today with Michael Agruss to discuss some common immigration challenges.

Some Good News from USCIS: In response to the ongoing COVID pandemic, USCIS has extended its flexibility policy for responding to certain agency requests, granting respondents an additional 60 days. Please note that these flexibilities apply for agency notices and requests between March 1, 2020, and March 26, 2022. We will take it! Also, be sure to check with https://www.uscis.gov before visiting any local USCIS field offices to verify their current COVID measures.

U.S. Land Borders with Canada and Mexico Set to Reopen in November - for Fully Vaccinated Travelers. After almost 19 months, the "longest undefended border in the world" between Canada and the U.S. is slated to reopen next month, along with the U.S.-Mexico border. However, only fully vaccinated travelers will be allowed to enter, including those "essential workers" who have been travelling under exception to the closure, such as students, commercial drivers, and healthcare workers. As with the plan to lift restrictions for fully vaccinated international travelers arriving by air, an exact date has not yet been announced.

Opening the land borders 19 months after they closed will reconnect neighbors, and provide a reprieve for businesses.

Biden Administration Rescinds COVID-19 Travel Bans: The White House has announced plans to lift travel restrictions on all international travelers coming into the United States beginning in early November 2021. The current geographic COVID-19 related travel bans were implemented for individuals from China, Iran, the Schengen Area, U.K., Ireland, Brazil, South Africa, and India.
In place of these bans, all international travelers will be required to prove that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as well as provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within three days of boarding a flight to the United States. The CDC will provide information regarding which vaccines will be accepted. Some limited exceptions to the vaccination requirement will be available and more information will become available as the date for implementation nears.

Travelers who provide proof of full vaccination against the coronavirus before boarding a flight will be able to enter the United States.
