Our mission is to bring quality continuing legal education and networking to those who practice in the entertainment, arts and sports industries and those who would like to enter those f
ields including law students. The Forum was organized in 1978 in response to a perceived need among entertainment and sports lawyers to have a specialized group that provided professional networking and education for those practicing in those industries. Since that time, the Forum has annually presented a very rich combination of programs, meetings and social events. There is no larger national bar organization dedicated to the entertainment, arts and sports law industries. The Forum has created specialized divisions and committees, headed by practitioners who are top of their field, and that regularly present panels and plenaries on topics of interest, at the annual meeting and regional programs. These divisions include: Motion Pictures, Television, Cable, & Radio; Music & Personal Appearances; Sports; Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts; Theater & Performing Arts; Literary Publishing; Litigation; Arts & Museums; Licensing & Merchandising; Digital Media and New Technologies and Electronic Gaming. In addition, recognizing the globalization of both the entertainment and sports industries, the Forum has an active international committee reaching out to lawyers practicing in neighboring countries including Canada and Mexico as well as Europe, Asia, Central America, South America and the rest of the World. Forum leadership includes practitioners who are both in house and in private practice, representing some of the most influential forces in the entertainment and sports industries. We welcome law students and new lawyers to our seminars and meetings and foster mentoring and basic skills training for young lawyers and budding lawyers. The Forum publishes books developed and written by its members, as well as a high level quarterly publication that is sent to all members – The Entertainment and Sports Lawyer. Members are invited and encouraged to offer articles to that publication. We also offer webinars on a regular basis year-round on myriad topics of current interest. ABA Code of Conduct
