Last week we attended Books and Brunch, a fundraiser benefiting the Assistance League. Assistance League Chicagoland West supports neighbors in need throughout DuPage and western Cook Counties. We are happy to partner together to help meet their mission of transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs that support education and self-reliance while fostering a sense of connection and belonging.

University of Illinois-Chicago alum, Jim Zouras, headed back to campus last week to share his legal experience and candid insights with current UIC pre-law students. Jim discussed law school as well as the legal profession while answering many questions from the student audience. This interactive forum has become an annual event for Jim and UIC’s prospective attorneys-to-be. Jim’s visit is known as “an annual highlight of UIC pre-law programming” and just one of the many ways he shares his time and talents with the local Chicago community.

An Illinois court has ordered Michael Klusmeyer to pay $4M to four women for invading their privacy by placing hidden cameras in a restroom. The plaintiffs were represented by Jeffrey R. Kulwin of Kulwin Masciopinto & Kulwin, LLP and James B. Zouras and Teresa Becvar of Stephan Zouras LLC. This judgment is important because it shows that courts protect privacy. Even as technology makes it easier to spy on others and invade privacy rights, our judicial system makes clear that these violations will not be excused and perpetrators will be held accountable. For anyone who’s suffered from this kind of invasion, this case is proof that the legal system can help.

We are thrilled to announce that 6 of Stephan Zouras’ talented attorneys made the 2025 Illinois Super Lawyers list! Congratulations to Ryan Stephan, Jim Zouras, Teresa Becvar, and Andrew Ficzko on being named Super Lawyers, and to Katie Mitchell Duffy and Anna Ceragioli who earned the well-deserved honor of Rising Stars. Only five percent of the attorneys in Illinois are given this distinction, and the SZ attorneys receiving this year’s honor have received the award in multiple consecutive years. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, dedication, and exceptional legal expertise. SZ looks forward to continuing our work on behalf of those we serve and achieving more success together.

We are pleased to officially announce Gillian Kimmons as a practicing attorney at Stephan Zouras! Gillian started her career with us as law clerk in the spring of 2023 and has recently graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law with her Juris Doctorate. These organizations, who work tirelessly to provide legal aid and other services to underprivileged sectors of our community, include the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Women Employed, the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Prairie State Legal Services.
