Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean with a population of approximately 3.2 million people. Puerto Rico known for its beautiful landscape consisting of mountains, waterfalls, and the El Yunque rainforest. It is a place full of rich and unique culture that includes wonderful music and amazing food.

Hurricane Fiona has wreaked havoc on Puerto Rico. Many parts of the island are experiencing severe flooding after 30-inches of rainfall. At one point, the ENTIRE island was without power. Many people have had to abandon their homes and a few have already lost their lives.

Puerto Rico and its citizens need your help. The following are some agencies you can donate to:

- PRxPR Relief and Rebuild Fund invests 100% of its donations to the most critically affected areas. Here is the link to their website for more information: prxpr.org

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month from Barreiro Law!

Here are some definitions to help better understand what it means to be Hispanic, Latinx, and Latine:

Hispanic refers to people, cultures, or countries related to Spain, the Spanish language, or Hispanidad.

Latinx refers to a person of Latin American origin or descent, but used as a gender-neutral alternative to Latino or Latina. This term is used primarily in certain English speaking communities.

Latine functions the same as Latinx, but is primarily used in certain Spanish speaking communities.
