Many parts of our laws overlook the real challenges that pedestrians and cyclists face just trying to get around. Most roads in Illinois were designed with only automobile traffic in mind. Our infrastructure was designed with walking and biking as an afterthought, if they were considered at all. Many drivers, and the insurance companies that represent their interests, wrongly tend to view cyclists and pedestrians as street trespassers. That is why we at Freeman Kevenides Law do what we do. Vulnerable users in Chicago and throughout Illinois need someone advocating on their behalf. We are in the business of advocating on behalf of vulnerable users, and we love our work.

Today, the IL App. Crt. upheld our client's verdict against the City of Chicago for failing to maintain its post protected bike lane. The City argued it owed no duty to the cyclist who struck a broken post in the bike facility. The Court disagreed, preserving the jury's verdict.
