Artificial intelligence can be a useful tool to better understand our everyday lives. But sometimes, it can fall into the wrong hands. Defendant Brian Heppner used Anthropic’s AI system, Claude, to outline a defense strategy to anticipated criminal charges. He then shared these documents with his counsel. The court ruled that these documents were not subject to the attorney client or work product privileges and could be used in his prosecution. Trial is set to start April 6, and we will continue to monitor the situation.

This ruling highlights the growing issues involving AI in the legal field. Read Caren Lederer’s article ‘Surviving Heppner: AI in the Courtroom’ to dive deeper into this complex situation: https://bit.ly/4bKM8ow
