Happy New Year! We are excited to kick off the year with our new series, Faces of the Firm, where we introduce you to the dedicated individuals behind our practice.

To start the series, please join us in welcoming our new Associate Attorney, Brenda Ascencio!

Valdez & Vilim, LLP is thrilled to have Brenda join our Attorney team. Brenda has been with the V&V since 2023 in different roles, initially as a law clerk, and later as a paralegal. As an attorney, Brenda focuses her practice exclusively on Immigration and Nationality Law, handling family-based immigration, humanitarian immigration (Asylum, VAWA, U/T Visas), naturalization, and removal defense cases.

As a first-generation Mexican American and the proud daughter of immigrant parents, Brenda is deeply committed to serving our client communities. Before becoming an attorney, she gained valuable experience working with various non-profit organizations providing immigration legal services.

Brenda earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is fluent in Spanish and admitted to practice law in Illinois.

Outside of the office, Brenda's favorite thing to do in the city is explore different neighborhoods and try new local restaurants!

Para comenzar la serie, ¡acompáñenos a darle la bienvenida a nuestra nueva abogada, Brenda Ascencio!

Valdez & Vilim, LLP se complace en contar con Brenda en nuestro equipo de abogadas. Brenda lleva trabajando en V&V desde 2023 en diferentes puestos, inicialmente como asistente legal y después como asistente jurídica. Como abogada, Brenda enfoca su práctica exclusivamente en el Derecho de Inmigración y Nacionalidad, manejando casos de inmigración familiar, inmigración humanitaria (Asilo, VAWA, Visas U/T), naturalización y defensa de deportación.

Como mexicoamericana de primera generación y orgullosa hija de padres inmigrantes, Brenda está profundamente comprometida con el servicio a las comunidades de nuestros clientes. Antes de convertirse en abogada, adquirió una valiosa experiencia trabajando con varias organizaciones sin fines de lucro brindando servicios legales de inmigración.

Brenda obtuvo su doctorado en leyes (J.D.) de University of Illinois Chicago y es miembro de la Asociación Americana de Abogados de Inmigración. Ella habla español con fluidez y está autorizada para ejercer la abogacía en Illinois.

Fuera de la oficina, lo que más le gusta hacer a Brenda en la ciudad es explorar diferentes barrios y ¡probar nuevos restaurantes locales!
