Bruce Pfaff gave a speech to the Chicago Bar Association on April 26, 2012 concerning the Legal Implications of Health Care Technology. He discussed how the lack of electronic medical records can lead to the temptation of healthcare workers to create false records or to give false testimony about the care. He also described the benefits to hospitals and doctors to have an effective electronic medical record because clear documentation of what happened when can help identify appropriate or inappropriate care, leading to better patient outcomes and fewer disputed legal claims.

Bruce R. Pfaff was interviewed on Illinois Public Radio this week discussing the new Illinois Supreme Court rule permitting jurors to submit written questions for witnesses to answer at trial. Bruce first wrote a law magazine article advocating the practice in 2009 and is gratified that the Supreme Court created a rule allowing the practice.

Michael Gill successfully tried a motor vehicle collision case to verdict in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. The jury awarded $148,997.44 to a 29 year-old man who suffered multiple injuries in a crash on the Edens Expressway near the Wilson Avenue exit. The case was tried August 26-31, 2011 before the Hon.
