In January, the Department of State is launching a pilot program to allow a limited number of individuals in status to renew their visa stamps from within the U.S.

A limited number of H-1B specialty occupation workers will be able to renew their visas in the US as soon as January, State Department officials announced.

USCIS has announced that the initial cap registration period will open at noon on March 1, 2023, and they will continue to accept registrations until noon on March 17th. Employers will be able to create new "registrant" accounts beginning at noon Eastern on Feb. 21st.

Today, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that the initial registration period for the fiscal year 2024 H-1B cap will open at noon Eastern on March 1 and run through noon Eastern on March 17, 2023.

USCIS announced today that they are implementing premium processing for certain previously filed EB-1 and EB-2 immigrant petitions. The expansion only applies to certainly previously filed applications, and has not yet been implemented for new filings.

For Multinational Manager (E13) I-140s received on or before January 1, 2021, USCIS will start accepting premium processing requests on June 1, 2022.

For Multinational Manager (E13) I-140s received on or before March 1, 2021, USCIS will start accepting premium processing requests on July 1, 2022.

For National Interest Waiver Petitions (E21) received on or before June 1, 2021, USCIS will start accepting premium processing requests on July 1, 2022

The U.S. is opening its borders to vaccinated travelers on November 8. We are still waiting for the exact language of the new travel restrictions from the government, but this is welcome news.

Some good news as Matter of Castro Tum is no more. Some level of discretion has been returned to Immigration Judges and they will be better able to control their docket.

Attorney General Merrick Garland issued an opinion Thursday recognizing the ability of immigration judges to administratively close a removal proceeding, which effectively removes a deportation case from the docket without technically disposing of the case.

The Department of State has announced that they are automatically extending the validity of National Interest Exemptions (NIEs) for Travelers from China, Iran, Brazil, South Africa, the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and India. Unless otherwise indicated, the validity of previously issued NIEs will be valid for 12 months from the date of approval and will also be valid for multiple entries.
