On May 17th, 2023, Cassiday hosted a Trial Technology Seminar at the Ivy Room. The seminar consisted of presentations from expert witnesses as well as premiere plaintiff and defense trial attorneys. The speakers addressed the ever-evolving environment of trial technology and outlined best practices for courtroom use. in addition to the presenters, two sitting trial judges provided professional input and insight about recent trials and the use of technology in the courtroom. Cassiday successfully ended the evening with dinner and drinks to round out an overall informative and educational event. Thank you to everyone in attendance.

Richard Huettel obtained a verdict in favor of defendant interventional cardiologist in a case involving a claimed failure to diagnose and treat an acute heart attack. During the three week Cook County trial, Rich Huettel represented the attending cardiologist who was alleged to have failed to recognize an ST elevation myocardial infarction and recommend immediate intervention following consultation by the emergency department. Plaintiffs contended the delay in diagnosis resulted in disabling injuries and sought over $9 million in damages.

VanDenburgh, a partner in the firm’s Merrillville, Indiana office, was recently appointed to serve as the Chair for the Construction Section of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana (DTCI) for the year 2023. The DTCI is an association of Indiana lawyers who defend clients in civil litigation and who provide a voice of reason in government, the courts, the legal profession, and the community at large.
