Accounting Clerk
Accounting duties, including: accounts payable, file openings and conflicts check, and billing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Carries out accounts payable duties, including vendor and client billable expenses. This includes: scanning and recording bills in accounts payable log; checking client payment receipts; applying payments to proper client or firm files and accounts; and making payments.
Carries out file openings in coordination with legal secretaries, including checking conflicts.
Assists with client billings, including: running pre-bills, editing pre-bills and finalizing bills to send to client.
Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to handle confidential matters discretely, in a mature and responsible manner conducive to the position.
Good organizational skills and detail-oriented individual.
Knowledgeable about accounting practices and accounts payable and expense recovery processes. Share if you know someone looking
Knowledgeable about law firm billing and conflict checking processes.
Experience in working well under pressure, i.e., conflicting and fluctuating deadlines, and effectively reprioritizing multiple tasks of equal urgency and importance with minimal supervision.
Experience in effective problem-solving, involving complex situations that may present new challenges, actively using sound judgment in decision-making processes.
Effective communication and customer service skills, including the ability to be courteous in handling situations patiently and tactfully.
Ability to occasionally work more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree generally required.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Lexis-Nexis.
