It is and I can think of few worthier causes than to assist our most vulnerable population: children and families who have been victimized by abuse. Throughout the pandemic, the already dire need for resources for abused children and families increased and this organization is working hard to meet the needs of families trying to escape abuse and seek treatment for it in the aftermath. You know a victim of some type of abuse- it is an issue that impacts us all regardless of our race, color, socioeconomic status, education level, etc. TRAUMA impacts us all. When left untreated it can result in the continuing cycle of abuse, crime, drug abuse, etc. And, it always results in unnecessary pain. Show your LOVE to your fellow humans this holiday season and make a donation to this amazing organization. YOUR DONATION WILL BE MATCHED TODAY!!! So even a small gift will have double the impact!

On , make a donation to ChicagoCAC and the future of Chicago's children.

How does a "real" victim behave after a s*xual assault? Many assumptions about victim behavior are very different than reality. For instance, one myth exploited as a "Weinstein Defense" is that a "real" victim would never speak to their attacker again. This "defense" ignores power dynamics and trauma response. As a trial lawyer and a consultant in cases arising out of s*xual assault and abuse, I create an expert team to identify and educate the fact-finder on these issues.

When his trial opens in the coming days, Harvey Weinstein’s defense team is expected to go on the offensive against the women who have accused him of r**e and s*xual assault, in part by questioning if they acted like victims afterward.

"How can I help more people?" Was the question I was grappling with at the beginning of 2019. What a difference a year makes! 2019 opened up so many new doors. In addition to representing my own clients, 2019 saw me traveling around the country speaking, educating, and consulting about the best way to effectively represent survivors of s*xual abuse. As if that wasn't exciting enough, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with youth-serving organizations and companies to create programs that seek to prevent s*xual abuse. I am bad at math, but according to my calculations: I have definitely widened the reach I can have for survivors AND had the incredible opportunity to address PREVENTION! I am filled with gratitude and excited to continue and grow in 2020. Let this be the year that we stop abuse. Happy New Year! *xualabuse
