Paying a creator doesn’t automatically give you ownership.

If your independent contractor agreement lacks an assignment clause and a work‑for‑hire provision, the person you hired may still own the website, logo, or course you paid for.

I don’t play about being respectful — but kindness without boundaries gets taken advantage of. That’s why every contract I draft includes a clear termination clause.

A good termination clause gives you an exit strategy and prevents months of chasing, unpaid work, or headaches.

What to include:
➡️ Termination for cause — non‑payment, material breach, abuse → immediate written notice
➡️ Termination for convenience — either party ends with 30 days (or your chosen notice)
➡️ Automatic termination — no contact for 30+ days → contract ends
➡️ Payment on termination — what’s owed for work done; deposit rules
➡️ Return of materials & IP — who keeps drafts, files, final deliverables

Protect yourself before things go wrong. Comment “Contract” and I’ll send the link to book a Contract Review.

Unpopular opinion: a P.O. Box alone won’t protect your business — and it often won’t meet formation or trademark requirements.

When forming an LLC or filing a trademark, most states and the USPTO expect a physical or approved virtual mailing address. A P.O. Box can be convenient for mail, but it’s not a substitute for a compliant business address.
