Parents, we encourage you to try to work on better communication during the Coronavirus pandemic so as to ensure the best interests of the child are always at the forefront of your relationship.
Don't let you and your ex spouse's differences add to the stress. Children often feel the need to take on and solve the issues between their parents which result in the development of negative emotional coping mechanisms that will continue to affect them long after the virus has been contained.
Some brief DO's and DONT'S:
DO communicate civilly with the other parent
DO attempt to adjust your schedules accordingly
DO allow your child to spend time with their other parent whether virtually or physically, if safe
DON'T disparage the other parent or paint them in a negative light for not seeing the child
DON'T encourage the child to harbor ill will towards the other parent for the same
DON'T assume that parenting schedules are not subject to enforcement due to court closures. They are still hearing cases on an emergency basis.
As always, please stay civil, stay safe, and stay positive. ~
