Center for Intellectual Property, Information & Privacy Law proudly celebrates the legacy of Lisa Dunner (J.D. ‘95), an extraordinary trailblazer in the field of Intellectual Property. Her remarkable achievements and dedication to the industry have earned her the well-deserved Don Dunner Leadership Award at the 67th annual Intellectual Property, Information, and Privacy Law conference this fall.

Lisa's recognition as one of the world’s "Top 250 Women in IP" and a top 1000 trademark attorney, along with her 21-year journey leading Dunner Law PLLC, is a testament to her outstanding contributions. We applaud her as an IP Star and a role model for aspiring professionals in this domain.

Law school legacy: Lisa Dunner (J.D. ‘95), daughter of “giant among U.S. patent bar practitioners” and previous law school IP Advisory Board Chair, the late Donald “Don” Dunner, will be honored with the Don Dunner Leadership Award at the 67th annual Intellectual Property, Information, and Privacy Law conference this fall.

Lisa has been recognized as one of the world’s “Top 250 Women in IP,” one of the world’s top 1000 trademark attorneys and an IP Star.

For 21 years, Lisa ran her own certified women-only trademark and copyright firm, Dunner Law PLLC, before merging with a Virginia patent firm.

I am excited to announce that, effective July 16, Yolanda King has been appointed the next Director of the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law Intellectual Property, Information & Privacy Law Center.

Professor King recently served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Law at Northern Illinois University where she taught property, IP law related courses and entertainment law.

Before joining NIU, Professor King practiced IP law at Husch Blackwell Sanders Welsh & Katz and Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, where she engaged in domestic and international copyright and trademark prosecution, handled licensing issues and represented clients in domain name matters. In addition, she was an attorney in the City of Chicago Department of Law. Professor King is currently of counsel at Advitam IP, an intellectual property law firm in Chicago.

Professor King is a 2002 graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a member of the Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law and Orientation Co-Chair of the Black Law Students Association.
