On June 1, 2026, Borjas Law Group, LLC is officially relocating to 216 South Jefferson Street, Unit 202, Chicago, Illinois 60661 (only two blocks away from our previous location). This is a dream come true and a result of growth and expansion. We’re excited for the opportunity to continue to serve our community in Chicago, the country, and worldwide. We received a very complex case that involved a very serious crime, and on the surface it appeared that not only would our client NOT be eligible for bond but also be subject to a permenant bar. That means, our client would not be eligible from ever obtaining an immigration benefit. In a climate where immigration judges are denying bond for far much less, we were able to dig deep, legally, and prove to the judge why our client was and should be legally eligible for bond. This is our standard. We do not shy away from complex cases and we are always transparent with our clients about what they are up against.

Recibimos un caso muy complejo que involucraba un delito bastante grave y, a primera vista, parecía que nuestro cliente no solo NO sería elegible para salir bajo fianza, sino que también estaría sujeto a una prohibición permanente para obtener un beneficio migratorio. En un contexto donde los jueces de inmigración niegan la fianza por mucho menos, pudimos investigar a fondo, legalmente, y demostrarle al juez por qué nuestro cliente era y debería ser legalmente elegible para salir bajo fianza. Another one for the books! Our client had a bar to asylum going into trial due to the “circumvention of lawful pathways” bar. However, we were able to overcome the more stringent bar of withholding of removal which allows our client to stay in the United States with family. We will still appeal and go after asylum! ¡Otro para recordar! Nuestro cliente tenía un impedimento para solicitar asilo al entrar en juicio debido a la prohibición de “elusión de vías legales”. Sin embargo, logramos superar la prohibición más estricta de la suspensión de la deportación, que le permite permanecer en Estados Unidos con su familia. ¡Aun así apelaremos y solicitaremos asilo!

It has been a very busy start to the year, but our success rate remains steadfast. Congratulations to yet another family that has been granted asylum. I am truly humbled by this. Having a scholarship named after you from a foreign country is inexplicable. I am proud of our efforts and the many families we have assisted in obtaining asylum - protection in the U.S. from persecution. May God continue to bless those in need!
