Radius, a popular music venue in Pilsen, temporarily closed part of its space for inspection and repair after a wooden beam fell during a concert early Saturday, injuring two attendees. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. during a Levity performance, with a 29-year-old man suffering neck and shoulder injuries and a 26-year-old woman sustaining a head injury. Both were taken to the hospital in good condition. Following the incident, Radius hired a structural engineer, who found the beam's failure was due to deterioration and missing bolts. The venue has been ordered to close the northern section until repairs and inspections are complete. The building's safety history remains unclear, and Radius has not responded to requests for comment.

A 19-year-old drunk driver, Peter Swenson, traveling at 93 mph, caused a fatal crash in Oak Lawn that killed 27-year-old Manuel Castro Alvarez and seriously injured his 7-year-old daughter. Swenson, who was charged with reckless homicide and aggravated DUI, ran a red light and collided with Alvarez’s car. Swenson’s blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit. Alvarez was pronounced dead at the hospital, while his daughter was airlifted with serious injuries.

Un trabajador de la construcción, Francisco Padilla Gutiérrez, de 54 años, murió en un atropello y fuga en la autopista Kennedy el lunes por la noche. Mientras trabajaba en un ascensor pintando la pared de un túnel, Padilla-Gutiérrez fue atropellado por un camión con remolque que huyó de la escena. A fatal workplace accident occurred at Menasha Packaging Company in Alsip, IL, when 32-year-old Falah Hadi was struck by a truck while guiding a semi-trailer into a loading dock. Hadi became trapped between a parked truck and the semi-trailer, and later died from his injuries at Advocate Christ Medical Center. The accident is under investigation, and Hadi was not an employee of Menasha, but worked for a contractor.

In this situation, Falah Hadi would likely have a work comp claim against his employer but also a potential lawsuit against Menasha Packaging.

A child was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident on Monday evening in Schaumburg, Illinois. At approximately 5:08 p.m., police responded to the scene of the crash near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Thoreau Drive. The child, was taken to a hospital but later died from injuries.
