🤔🧐This is a good read! This issue goes beyond the housing market. 🏡

In 2024 the median age of a first time home buyer reached a record high of 38! Late 20’s - early 30’s has been the median since the 80’s. The share of 1st time homebuyers (all ages) plummeted to a historic low of only 24%. Well below the historic average of 38%.

“The implications of these trends are bigger than just housing markets. The American dream is part of our American identity and part of our tax code. The U.S. tax code assumes a universal interest in homeownership, and it transfers wealth from renters to the homeowner class. If the U.S. is to be a place where ownership is not a shared goal, the effects on inequality will be stark and will exacerbate problems already in place.”

“This shift could usher in a new phase in the economy where the precarity of the labor market compels Americans—especially younger Americans—to make short-term choices that jeopardize their long-term financial security.”

The Cheyenne Children’s Museum has been making small strides in establishing programming, adding staffing and partnerships, and getting off the ground since its “soft” opening in December.

Nearly eight months later, the museum is ready to transition to a formal opening. This change will be commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday at 4 p.m., courtesy of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s Red Carpet Committee. https://buff.ly/jM9Jkxv

Heads up!

Heads up! The seasonal on-street parking restriction for oversized vehicles (including campers and RVs) will begin five days after Labor Day on Sept. 6, 2025.

Key points:
🚐 Oversized vehicles are defined as any vehicle that exceeds 25 feet in length, 9 feet in height, or 8.5 feet in width (Mirrors, lights, and safety features *do not* count toward that limit).

🚐 The restriction begins five days after Labor Day until five days before Memorial Day.

🚐 Permits are available from the City Clerk's office to have an oversized vehicle on the street for up to five days

🚐 Vehicles modified for those with disabilities, tractor units that are part of a semi truck, and food trucks are exempt.

🚐 Oversized vehicles can always be parked on your own property. The restriction only applies to on-street parking.
