These professionals keep our neighborhoods safe and in turn, we provide discounted services. I was a 12 year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department and in August of 2010 I found myself under a pile of bricks from a collapsed building on Jefferson Ave in Detroit. I was seriously injured along with 5 other firefighters and spent 17 days in a coma, 30 days in intensive care and another 30 days in a r
ehab hospital, just to be lucky to come home in an electric wheel chair. I also at that time was a Realtor because most firefighters work a second job because of the low pay. While I was recuperating, I was unable to work and this effected my family’s financial situation gravely. Luckily for myself and the other guys who were injured, my firefighter brothers and sisters got together and put on a benefit at the Roostertail that generated a ton of money that they donated to us injured firefighters. This made the difference in my family making it through the tough times until I could get back to working again. Unfortunately, my injuries denied me from regaining my job with the Detroit fire dept but I still was an active Realtor and I just made lemons into lemonade and went all in on rebuilding my real estate career. That is when I decided to start my real estate team, The Sold By Eric Team at Keller Williams Realty and hired my first assistant. Currently I have a great team of agents and assistants that has enabled us to sell 244 homes in 2016. I have spoke a lot about how I would have never been able to financially make it through this situation without all the donations from my first responder brothers and sisters and wanted to be able to return the favor. This is why the Sold By Eric Team has partnered with Capital Mortgage Funding, our title company and a local insurance company to be able to offer multiple discounts to First Responders throughout the Metro Detroit Area when buying or selling a home! We want to give back to the people who give so much to our community. Additionally, I personally will donate a portion of our profits in this program back to injured first responders. I know first hand how devastating this can be when this type of situation happens and we want to be able to help these first responder families keep from falling into financial disaster.
