🏡 Thinking About Buying a Home in 2026?

Before you begin touring homes, take time to prepare financially and understand the steps involved.

1.Review your debt-to-income ratio (DTI). Your DTI helps lenders determine how much you may qualify for and can help you establish a comfortable price range.

2.Get preapproved. A preapproval gives you a clearer picture of your buying power and shows sellers that you’re serious.

3.Compare interest rates and loan options. Even a small difference in your interest rate can affect your monthly payment and the overall cost of your loan.

4.Research your lender. Look for someone who is responsive, knowledgeable, and willing to explain the process. Local lenders may offer personalized service and valuable knowledge of the area, but finding the right fit is what matters most.

5. Build your savings. Plan for more than your down payment and closing costs. You may also need funds for inspections, moving expenses, repairs, maintenance, and updates after closing.
