Happy Fourth of July Weekend! 🎆
Police typically see an increase in arrests and emergency calls over the Fourth of July weekend. Impaired driving, assaults, disorderly conduct, and fireworks-related incidents all tend to rise as celebrations (and alcohol consumption) increase.
As you celebrate with family, friends, barbecues, fireworks, and time on the lake, remember that one poor decision can turn a great weekend into one you'll never forget (for the wrong reasons).
This holiday weekend, make smart choices:
🚗 Don't drink and drive.
🚤 Never operate a boat while impaired.
🎇 Be responsible with fireworks.
⚠️ Avoid confrontations that can quickly escalate.
👮 If you have an encounter with law enforcement, stay calm, be respectful, and don't make the situation worse.
Make choices today that you'll still be proud of on Monday.
BUT if you do have an interaction with law enforcement and believe you are being accused of a crime, remember that you have the right to remain silent and the right to consult with an attorney before answering investigative questions. Even “innocent” information can be used against you.
If you or a loved one needs legal representation, the attorneys at Greenfelder Copes are here to help.
From all of us at Greenfelder Copes, we wish you a safe, fun, and happy Independence Day!
