This I-918, Petition for Nonimmigrant Status (U Visa) was personal for me. Our client is a fellow Armenian living in California who had retained an Armenian attorney in his home state.
On December 3, 2025, our client received a request for evidence (RFE) from the USCIS. This is a moment he had been waiting for for 10 years (this case was filed in 2016)! It was complex, but if the issues raised could be overcome, it would result in the approval of the U visa and eventually, a green card.
What was disheartening for me is that at this critical juncture (where the client — your Armenian brother or sister as I see it — is in dire need of help), the predecessor Attorney asked for $10,000.00 to respond to the RFE! That seemed excessive to me. Frankly, it was flat out disappointing.
I always encourage my clients to stick with their counsel, especially when that person is a fellow ՀԱՅ. This time, I rolled up my sleeves and took this matter into my own hands and we got the job done — for a fraction of that fee.
I want to congratulate my client who is finally going to see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
