As we all deal with the reality that business is going be anything but, business as usual, we want our clients and partners to feel confident that we are taking the COVID-19 crisis seriously. With that, we have implemented a plan that we hope will allow us to help minimize its impact on our clients, while at the same time doing our part to combat the spread of the virus.

While we will conduct more and more activities away from the office, we recognize that there will be times when clients will need to come to the office to sign paperwork, particularly clients who are purchasing a home. Therefore, we have not only thoroughly cleaned our entire office, but we have also moved all staff our of the front area and set up a temporary meeting area separating clients from attorneys and staff by a floor to ceiling plexiglass and three layer plastic sheet barrier. Further, the area will be allowed to sit for at least two hours before being disinfected prior to our next client visit.

We have also set a number of rules and procedures that will will follow and with which we will require all closing participants to comply. Well everyone, the wait is over. The highly touted debut of Attorney Kevin Buck on BACC Talk with Sonia Ahmed Rollins has been released for public consumption. It might just be a coincidence that it comes out right after the Golden Globes ... or is it a conspiracy to keep all the awards in Hollywood? You decide. In any event, get the popcorn, sit back and enjoy.

In all seriousness, we would like to thank the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce and Sonia for giving us this opportunity.

Spent this morning at a panel discussion in Burlington, MA on the future challenges facing commercial real estate developers. While the discussion focused on the Route 3 corridor and surrounding towns, the topics that were discussed can be applied to any town looking to increase its economic potential. It was interesting listening to the panelists (some have been in the business for 15+ years) describe process of introducing new businesses to towns that have traditionally been thought of as suburbs. The panel covered a number of topics, including zoning regulations, transportation issues, infrastructure modification and amenities needed to entice companies to look towards towns surrounding Boston as a viable options to establish and grow their company.

Hand and hand with the need for office or manufacturing space, the companies are looking for an area that they can promote to their employees. There was a good discussion on mixed use regulations and how companies and employees are looking for an area where they can have a good work / life balance all in one spot. For example, are there good restaurants in there area?; are they walkable?; is there affordable housing?; is there a fitness centers in the building?

There is a lot of time and money invested in these commercial projects. A good developer has to keep all these factors in mind in order to be beneficial to the town, the residents and the company.
