I am a distant relative of President Andrew Jackson , Mr. Mecham’s book on President Andrew Jackson , is the gold standard of all books written by him . My great great great great grandmother was Mary Mollie Lessy Hutchinson , her sister was Elizabeth ( Betty ) Hutchinson , the mother of President Andrew Jackson . She was born what is now Northern Ireland .And the family lived in SC .This has been proved by many genieologist and also passed down by my late grandmother history of her family .i will be age 77 soon . My maternal grandmother was from from Hardin County, Tn. In west Tennessee . I am sure that Mr. Mecham knows , NBC News anchorman, Lester Holt. Who I never met . His great great grandmother , named Louise Spear , was born a slave on my great great grandfather , John Thomas Davy’s plantation in 1853 . After the civil war. She had a consensual affair with my great uncle Riley Davy . We never knew this , until one of his cousins who is a gemologist contacted my sister because of a DNA match on ancestry. com. Six years ago .However, after having several email exchanges with his cousin who still has a cousin who lives in Saltillo , Tn .The old south town ,which my ancestor , Mr. Davy founded , located 12 miles north of Savannah , Tn. A few miles from where the Battle of Shiloh occurred in 1862 . I do not know for sure but Mr. Holt’s elderly father who is still alive and lives in New York is also a first cousin X 4 of President Andrew Jackson . Ironically , I am a 4.th generation attorney from Chattanooga and only met Jon once in my life. But his late father grew up on Missionary Ridge and went to grammar school with his late father. And both his grandparents were friends of his grandparents. And Jon’s great grandfather was a personal friend of my great grandfather who the Attoney General of Tn. When the 19th amendment was passed in 1920 in Tn ., and he was also working on the appeal of the Monkey Trial ( Scopes trial ) .when he died in officre in 1926 . I have a copy of the Memoriai Resolution that he prepared for my great grandfather ‘s at his Memorial Ceremony in 1927 . I also live 2 miles from their hours on Missionary Ridge -.
