Gregory presented in Farmville earlier this month on the estate planning tools for landowners as part of the successful Generation NEXT program to ensure farmland and forestland stays intact, in use, and in the family, presented jointly by Virginia Extension and the Department of Forestry. Partner attorney Maggy Gregory will be speaking at the International Farm Transition Network annual conference, held in Richmond, Virginia, later this week. Ms. Gregory will be presenting to other professionals in the field on the use of tax incentives for conservation easements as a tool to facilitate farm succession planning. Our attorneys are available to speak broadly on various legal issues to both civic and professional groups, as well as our individual consultations for clients in the office.

Attorney Mary Scott Swyers with our firm will be offering a limited number of special consultations this summer for high school grads and young adults ages 18-21 on the issues that arise upon reaching legal adulthood and the steps they can take to make that transition more successful and avoid pitfalls. Each consultation will also include the preparation of a financial and healthcare power of attorney in the event of an accident or incapacity, as well as a copy of the Virginia State Bar's "So You're 18" handbook.
