Your most important bike event of the year. Yes you have your training rides, your Sunday Funday rides, and your fundraising charity events. But those are only possible if you can stay safe. Please come out and tell the world how important it is that you make it home safely, after EVERY ride. And then stick around and celebrate what we have as a community.

Some of my friends have heard this story already but I thought it was worth shaming this guy a bit more publicly. 😆

Seriously, two points I wanted to make: (1) everyone else on the road that day was nice, or at least behaved nicely, and (2) after my initial outrage, I took a deep breath, stayed calm, and tried to have a conversation. He remained recalcitrant, but maybe he gave some thought to why it might not be a good idea to run over someone.

The post may reflect my being a bit down on humanity after that encounter and other news and events unrelated to bicycling. It's improved since then but I hope we can all work on giving each other a little grace.
