Leadership is one of the hallmarks of a strong practice, and at JMD, we are honored to recognize both the legacy of one exceptional leader and the beginning of another.
After 14 years as Managing Partner, Catherine Barnes is passing the torch to Jonathan Feit.
Catherine has been an integral part of the firm for more than three decades. Since becoming Managing Partner in 2012, she has guided the firm with steadfast leadership, a commitment to excellence, and a vision that has strengthened and grown JMD's presence in the North Carolina legal community. We are deeply grateful for her years of service and the lasting impact she has made on our attorneys, staff, clients, and community. Catherine will continue her work at JMD advising closely held businesses, real estate developers, and business owners on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters.
As Jonathan steps into the role of Managing Partner, he brings more than 25 years of legal experience and a long history of leadership within the firm. A nationally recognized family law attorney, Jonathan has built a distinguished practice representing clients in complex divorce, custody, support, and equitable distribution matters. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous professional honors, shared his knowledge through continuing legal education programs across North Carolina, and dedicated his time to serving both the legal profession and the Charlotte community.
Jonathan joined James, McElroy & Diehl in 2001, and his commitment to exceptional client service, collaboration, and the continued success of the firm makes him well-positioned to lead the firm into its next chapter.
Please join us in thanking Catherine for her outstanding leadership and congratulating Jonathan as he begins his tenure as Managing Partner.
