National Caregivers Day - February 17, 2023

Whether assisting with essentials and necessities or providing skilled health care services, caregivers make an important difference in the lives of others every day.

National Caregivers Day recognizes those who assist others in need with personal care as well as mental and physical support. Since caregivers do not always receive the recognition that they deserve, join us today and every day in recognizing and expressing gratitude for the dedication and support that caregivers provide to the world daily.

A special thank you to caregivers everywhere for all you do from all of us at Danica Little Law, PLLC.

Engineering History - ASME, 140 Years and Counting

On February 16, 1880, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded by Alexander Lyman Holley, Henry Rossiter Worthington, John Edison Sweet, and Matthias N. Forney.

The ASME was established "as a way for engineers to discuss concerns created by the rise of industrialization and mechanization... as well as ensure the safety of equipment being used in manufacturing and construction..."

With over 140 years in existence, this non-profit professional association promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe through continuing education, training, professional development, codes, standards, research, conferences, publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach and enrichment.

Founded in North America, the ASME is now a global multidisciplinary organization with more than 85,000 members spanning 135 countries.

Thanks to the ASME, engineers, and other brilliant minds around the world for their ongoing multidisciplinary collaboration and service to improve the safety of lives around the globe.

The important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations..., not the great goals achieved.

The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced...our lives are measured by these. Susan B. Anthony

On February 15, 1820, Susan B. Anthony was born in Adams, Massachusetts.

A pioneer in women's rights, she worked tirelessly for woman's suffrage (right to vote) and in 1872 was arrested after voting (illegally) in the presidential election.

She was commemorated in 1979 with the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin, thus being the first American woman to have her image on a U.S. coin.

"The best way to predict your future is to create it." - Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln, a self-taught American lawyer, legislator, and opponent of slavery, was born February 12, 1809, to Nancy and Thomas Lincoln in Hardin County, Kentucky.

As President, Lincoln abolished slavery and preserved the Union from falling apart during the American Civil War. Lincoln proved to be a shrewd military strategist and a savvy leader bolstering the federal government and modernizing the U.S. economy.

Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation paved the way for slavery’s abolition, while his Gettysburg Address remains one of the most famous speeches in American history.
