We want to introduce you to Feeding Charlotte, a wonderful local non-profit that Harbor City Title is honored to partner with beginning in 2026.

Feeding Charlotte’s mission is to “rescue food” from restaurants and organizations that would otherwise become waste, and get it in the hands and mouths of people who need it the most in our community.

Brad, Lisa and Summer had the privilege of participating in their annual food packing event, Feeding Charlotte Feeds 2026, where we packed over 5000 boxed lunches.

Statutory Changes to Waiving Marital Rights in Real Property

“Hello once again, readers. It rarely happens in the real estate world, but we’ve recently had a rather significant change to statutory law that will directly affect our day-to-day practice. I’ve already gotten a significant number of questions about it, so I think the time is ripe for an article to discuss. Session Law 2025-25 (HB 40) became effective October 1, 2025, and with it came significant changes to three statutes you are no doubt familiar with: § 29-30; § 39-13.3; and § 41-63. Meet the Team: Angelique Feliciano, Residential Assistant

Angelique joined the Harbor City Title residential team in 2020 in a production capacity. She assists abstractors looking for prior policies, and has primary responsibility for getting final policies to buyers and lenders. Originally from Massachusetts, she moved to North Carolina in 2003 after receiving her Paralegal Certificate and has been in the real estate field ever since.

The Beacon Article: The Jet Set: Getting Documents Notarized in Foreign Countries

“In this month’s edition of The Beacon, I’d like to discuss a question that has come up frequently in the past few months, as many of your clients are on vacation out of the country: how do we get insurable signatures on documents when the signatory is in a foreign country?

The first and easiest way to tackle this is for the signatory to go to a US Embassy or consulate to have the document notarized there. This notarization would be accepted the same as any other US notary and could be immediately sent back to the US for recording. The issue here is…”
