A traffic stop in Anderson County resulted in a deputy being shot and the suspect being fatally wounded, prompting an investigation.

Nineteen years ago tonight, Charlotte lost two of its own.

CMPD Officers Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark were shot in the line of duty on March 31, 2007, and both passed in the early hours of April 1.

They were husbands. They were family. Officer Clark was a father to a little boy — with another son on the way.

It’s easy for moments like this to become something we “remember once a year.” But for their families, that loss never fades.

Tonight, I’m thinking about them — and about every officer who puts on a uniform knowing exactly what’s at stake.

We remember you. Always.

Such a great afternoon at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation Spring Luncheon 💙

I was proud for my firm to sponsor this event and to spend time with so many dedicated officers, community leaders, and friends who care deeply about keeping Charlotte strong and safe. The speakers were inspiring, the energy in the room was incredible, and it was a wonderful reminder of how much can be accomplished when a community shows up and supports one another.

Grateful to be part of a city that believes in service, leadership, and standing together.

Also… let’s be honest — any event that mixes meaningful conversations, community impact, and a chance to dress up a little is a win in my book 😊
