CHILD CARE

Child Care Access & Financial Assistance Available for Essential Workers
We have two resources for essential workers (as defined in Executive Order 121) who are in need of emergency childcare.
1. We partnered with the NC Child Care Resource & Referral network to launch a hotline, 1-888-600-1685, to connect families with childcare programs that have agreed to meet updated health, safety and operational guidelines.
2. For those essential workers who need it, financial assistance for emergency childcare is available.

INTERNET

Spectrum is offering free Wi-Fi and broadband access up to 100 Mbps for 60 days to any household with K-12 and/or college students that doesn’t already have Spectrum. Installation fees will be waived for these households. To enroll, call 1-844-488-8395.

NC Department of Information Technology: has developed an online map to find free internet spots or free internet service near your address.

Spectrum Wi-Fi hotspots: have opened for public use.
Hot Spots – McKinney Vento
CMS students are eligible to receive hot spots. MCV (McKinney Vento) liaisons have been picking up hotspots and dispersing them to our families within the community, including those in hotels. The district is also sending hotspots to the schools for their support staff who are communicating with their families to distribute.
If there is a family in a hotel who is in need of a hotspot, they can email [email protected] and will do our best to coordinate to get them a hotspot.

Testing
The Atrium Health Mobile Unit will be offering screening and testing COVID-19 at the following times, dates and locations:
10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, in the Atrium Health NorthPark Parking Lot (251 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, NC 28213).
10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday, April 16, in the First Baptist Church - West Parking Lot (1801 Oaklawn Ave., Charlotte, NC 28216).
• Community members will not need an appointment, and the screening and testing will be conducted on a walk-in basis.
• Anyone who meets criteria and symptoms when screened will immediately be tested for COVID-19 by an Atrium Health healthcare professional.
• Anyone with the following symptoms, should come to be screened for testing:
o Fever
o Cough
o Shortness of breath
o Loss of smell and/or taste.
• Those with certain medical conditions could be at a higher risk for severe illness related to COVID-19, including those with:
o Chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
o Serious heart conditions
o Diabetes
o Chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis
o Liver disease

• Atrium Health does not share a patient's immigration status and we do not report if a patient is undocumented.
