LaFond Law Group, PA has been closing residential purchases, refinances and reverse mortgages since 1998 and our amazing paralegal, Ashley Richardson, is very experienced, prompt and considerate. When counseling clients regarding their estate planning needs, we consider the family dynamics (i.e. second marriages and potential conflict), actual or possible special needs beneficiaries, tax consequen

ces and long-term care concerns. The elder law facet of our practice focuses on those who are striving to maintain financial security by offering solutions to protect and preserve assets for the needs of future long-term care. As part of elder law we do Medicaid pre-planning, Medicaid crisis planning and VA Improved Pension Planning. Finally, our probate and guardianship/conservator practice helps our clients navigate the Probate Court with as much ease as possible.

Happy Rosa Parks Day! Rosa Parks Day honors the civil rights icon and is celebrated on different dates: February 4th (her birthday) in states like California, Missouri, Ohio, and Oregon; and December 1st (anniversary of her arrest) in others like Oregon and Michigan, marking her pivotal refusal to give up her bus seat in 1955, sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott and advancing the Civil Rights Movement. While some states have official holidays, there are ongoing efforts, like the Rosa Parks Day Act, to make it a U.S. federal holiday.

Voting update: As we approach midday today, over 74,000 people have already voted early in Charleston County. We're on track for more than 135,000 ballots to be cast during early voting. As Election Day draws closer, the Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections anticipates an increase in misinformation. One key area of concern is around the ballot-marking device and the ballot-scanning process. Please see Myth v. Fact below!
