Broker to broker compensation is done in South Carolina. But how do you real estate agents navigate through the compensation discussion now?  For some reason, we want to make this very difficult. But it is not.  It does require you ...

Not sure these kiddos being sworn into Bar November or 2013 would have believed that in 2026 they would've owned their own law firm for SIX YEARS!

I truly can't believe it's been six years. The first two are simply a covid blur. 2023 was learning the serious cons of being a business owner and learning lessons the hard way. 2024 was our comeback year and 2025 felt like really learning how to be a business owner. I'm excited to see what this year brings and how we continue to grow as a practice and people!

I'm really really grateful for my team members past present and future. We really wouldn't be here without them. I mean that. Mainly because I'm totally impatient and would be super mean to people if I was back to doing it all myself.

Owning a business is no joke and I'm also fairly certain I could never work for anyone else again because I'm the best boss.

Thanks to everyone for your support, encouragement and belief!

Also, this is me reminding my friends to come close your home with me.

More information and resources about fincen for BUYERS.

Learn about what you need to do as a buyer or buyer's real estate agent for the FinCEN real estate report. We explain the mandatory FinCEN report submission.

Sadly it's really happening. Trust me I tried pretending it wasn't.

Starting March 1, 2026 certain transactions will be subject to new reporting. Very simply and not at all completely, this applies to residential, cash or non financed transactions with a buyer that is not a named individual. Please do not immediately assume you're off the hook ignore vacant land or not a single family residence. Also note I wrote non financed instead of simply just "cash". Residential and non financed are broadly defined and it encompasses more transactions than you think. Please please please keep this in mind for upcoming cash transactions.

And yes, your client will have to provide the requisite information whether they want to or not...that is if they want to close. I'm talking socials, bank account information and more.

We're all figuring this out as we go along but please be prepared for these transactions to involve more work and likely cost for us to do the reporting.

Please be nice to your closing attorneys during this time because we're really going through it.

We've been thinking about ways we can be a helper. As a small firm whose owners is comprised of, well me and Tommy (husband wife duo, if you don't know us) we regularly make donations to places who's work we value and find important.

However, I've been wanting a way for our business to contribute to the community we're in transparently.

has been doing great work in our community as our first and only sliding scale law firm. CLA also has an active immigration practice that is helping our neighbors and those in the community. They are in fact boots on the ground in this turbulent time. I admire for them what they do.

One of the first things we learn in law school is due process and we're committed to this founding principle as agents of the legal system. We take oaths as officers of the court when we are sworn in and it is a unique responsibility to ensure individuals are afforded rights granted under the Constitution.

So, tomorrow Styles and Di**le will donating a portion of our attorneys fees to to fund this essential and necessary work our community.

Remember there's always a way to help as long as you look. None of us are powerless.

As members of the legal profession, we stand for the Rule of Law, constitutional protections, and accountability. These principles are not abstract—they safeguard real people and real lives. Transparency, due process, and fundamental rights must always be upheld, especially in moments of national grief and uncertainty.
