Your executor has legal authority. They still can't get in.
RUFADAA, the law most states have adopted to govern digital account access after death or incapacity, gives your executor, your trustee, and your agent under a power of attorney a legal basis to request access to your accounts.
It does not give them your password. It does not get through two-factor authentication. It does not stop a platform from taking weeks to process a request while your domain expires and your email sequences keep sending.
Legal authority and operational access are not the same thing. Your executor can be perfectly authorized and completely locked out at the same time.
Every practical thing you can do to prepare exists because the law gives rights that are very hard to exercise without preparation.
