Just finished a trial with Judge Laurie Eiserloh of the 455th District Court of Travis County. After multiple instances of her yelling and screaming at me during the case for no sensible reason- she then uses her pulpit to lecture the attorneys at the end of the case on how to act “professionally.” One of her court staff apparently told my client that she acts like this all the time.
From the rules governing judicial conduct:
—
(4) A judge shall be patient, dignified and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers and others with whom the judge deals in an official capacity, and should require similar conduct of lawyers, and of staff, court officials and others subject to the judge's direction and control.
(5) A judge shall perform judicial duties without bias or prejudice.
(6) A judge shall not, in the performance of judicial duties, by words or conduct manifest
bias or prejudice, including but not limited to bias or prejudice based upon race, s*x, religion,
national origin, disability, age, s*xual orientation or socioeconomic status, and shall not
knowingly permit staff, court officials and others subject to the judge's direction and control to do
so.

I had asked for her recusal by oral motion after multiple instances of screaming and yelling, and after, in open court, she began criticizing my law firm website (like why?). She refused to step off the case and referenced that had years ago I done a podcast on recusal of judges (and?).
How are people this unhinged in positions of authority? She is unfortunately not the only one who behaves this way. We need and deserve much better judges than this.
Who has had a similar experience? And understand- we fortunately have the freedom in this country to speak openly and honestly.
