Protecting Outdoor Faucets During the Freeze. Wanted to post this in case it will help someone. Do not depend on insulation covers, outdoor faucets will still freeze. I wrapped my faucets with small towels and then put on foam insulation hard covers from Home Depot. This evening when I went out to test the faucets, they where frozen with temperatures about 18 degrees. Luckily, I was able to fix the problem by pouring boiling water on the faucets. If I had waited another day to test if the covers work, the freezing might have traveled deeper into the pipes. A slow stream is what you want to avoid freezing. In my case, I cut the covers on the bottom to allow the water stream to pass and put the covers back on. Stay safe and warm. Kamal Saieh, Horizon Realty.
