Earlier this month, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority awarded $75 million in tax credits through its Cultural Arts Facilities Expansion (CAFE) program to support the restoration and revitalization of Asbury Park’s historic Convention Hall, Grand Arcade, and Paramount Theatre. 💰 These landmark structures are iconic symbols of the Jersey Shore and are listed on both the Federal and State Registers of Historic Sites.

As Special Waterfront Redevelopment Counsel to the City of Asbury Park, we have worked for years to advance efforts to preserve and restore these historic assets. The EDA’s investment recognizes the substantial financial commitment required to undertake a restoration that meets the rigorous standards applicable to nationally and state-recognized historic properties while ensuring these facilities can once again serve the public.

Not only is this the largest amount issued so far under the CAFE program, the NJEDA’s commitment to oversight and accountability will help ensure that this transformative project is completed in accordance with the highest preservation and redevelopment standards. The $130 million restoration of Asbury Park’s historic Convention Hall complex has secured $75 million in state funding to rehabilitate the nearly century-old landmark.

We have some big news to share on a Friday... Earlier this year, Maraziti Falcon successfully negotiated a $150 Million PFAS settlement. 🤝

Maraziti Falcon Partners Diane Alexander, Esq. and Brad Carney, Esq. successfully represented the Association of Environmental Authorities of New Jersey (AEA) and seven member utilities in challenging proposed Judicial Consent Orders (JCOs) involving remediation funding between the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), DuPont, and 3M.

Following objections raised by AEA and others, the Honorable Renée Marie Bumb declined to approve the proposed JCOs at the initial hearing, prompting settlement negotiations with NJDEP.

As a result of months of negotiations by Brad and Diane, NJDEP agreed to:

▪️Provide at least $150 million in PFAS wastewater treatment funding through the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank, including $100 million in principal forgiveness and $50 million in low-interest loans.
▪️Reduce PFAS Clean Water Project origination fees by 50%.
▪️Begin annual I-Bank funding of $15 million, starting five years after adoption of Surface Water Quality Standards.
▪️Release wastewater entities from certain Spill Act and CERCLA liabilities.

The revised JCOs were approved by the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in early August.
